Walsall Health Trainer Service is part of the Walsall Healthcare NHS Lifestyle Services Team.
The Health Trainers Service offers support to individuals looking to lose weight, or make other lifestyle changes. You can work on a one-to-one with a health trainer, or get referred onto a group if you would prefer.
New weight management groups!
Weigh2Go are new NHS community weight management groups, providing access and information to exercise and nutritional information for weight loss. Research has shown that those who use a combination of both healthy diet and exercise are more successful when it comes to weight loss than those who opt for a single approach. The programme is 12 weeks and groups will be run across the borough. Physical activity sessions will be specifically targeted for the needs of the group, and will be led by specialist physical activity advisers. They will include both talks around the benefits of exercise and light exercises suitable for the group members. Food and nutrition information will help to provide all the knowledge to help make good food choices; including looking at food labels, cooking methods and eating out.
By joining a group you gain both the support from the advisers running the sessions and the other members of the group. The support from Health Trainers at regular intervals throughout the 12 weeks will aim to keep you motivated and give you additional support along your weight loss journey.
